West Michigan shows its #PerrigoPride

BillboardAllegan, MI – A team of West Michigan economic development leaders launched a billboard and social media campaign today to share their gratitude for the tremendous impact Perrigo and its employees have had on the West Michigan region.

Five billboards throughout West Michigan send a message thanking Perrigo for all it has done and will continue to do for the region. Organizations and individuals are also being encouraged to share their #perrigopride through social media.

“Our organization is part of a team of West Michigan economic development organizations that have joined together to express our appreciation to Perrigo and its employees for their incredible community support,” said Nora Balgoygen-Williams, director of the Allegan County Economic Development Commission.

Perrigo Company, which is facing a hostile offer that concludes on November 13, employs 4,000 employees in West Michigan. “In this time of uncertainty for the incredible Perrigo workforce. Our team wanted to make sure the message is loud and clear that West Michigan has great gratitude for its investment in employment in our community,” said Jennifer Owens, president of Lakeshore Advantage.

Perrigo has been a major employer in West Michigan for more than 120 years. The company’s charitable foundation has donated more than $8.8 million to a variety of charitable causes over the past four years.

“Our economy is extremely robust with the lowest unemployment rates we have seen in nearly a decade,” said Jacob Maas, CEO of West Michigan Works! “We will work tirelessly to ensure West Michigan continues to be the home for Perrigo’s workforce.”

Organizations partnering in funding and support of the Perrigo Pride campaign include (alphabetical): Adams Outdoor, Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce, Allegan Economic Development Commission, City of Allegan, Lakeshore Advantage, Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce, Right Place, Southwest Michigan First and West Michigan Works!. The billboards will begin on November 10 at locations in Otsego, Plainwell and Holland.
