JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

The Allegan County Legal Assistance Center (ACLAC) is a nonprofit organization that provides legal assistance on civil cases for self-represented litigants.  The mission is to provide and support committed volunteers to educate litigants with the appropriate legal processes and procedures, offer access to proper tools, and assist with paperwork, thereby, more effectively accomplishing justice for all. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the volunteer coordinator would supervise volunteers in compliance with the mission of the organization.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Training volunteers
  2. Supervise volunteer interaction with patrons
  3. Provide direct assistance to patrons

WORKING CONDITIONS

Regular contact with self-represented litigants in an office setting during regular business hours.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Enjoy working with a diverse population
  2. High school diploma with post high school education or commensurate work experience in human services/law related field
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  4. Appropriate speech, dress and high level of professionalism
  5. Reliability
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patrons

COMPENSATION

Hours worked per week will be limited to 24 hours per week at the rate of $10 per hour.
