Allegan Public Schools
We are committed to the development of responsible citizens, productive workers, and lifelong learners.
Although the school system may have had humble beginnings in 1845 in a one-room schoolhouse, today it offers the community a broad educational program. The K-12 curriculum is extensive and is designed to prepare our students for college or careers. Technology permeates all areas of instruction, with wireless internet access in each of its seven buildings. Elementary and middle school programs offer a comprehensive K-8 curriculum and students in grades 9-12 have access to a rigorous and challenging curriculum, including 12 Advanced Placement courses. In collaboration with Allegan Area Educational Service Agency, Allegan Public Schools offers a full range of program options for students with special needs, as well as vocational educational options for high school students through the Allegan County Tech Education Center.
A wide variety of extracurricular activities are available to all students in the district, enabling them to participate in the district, enabling them to participate in team and individual sports, as well as foreign language clubs and fine arts activities. The truly exceptional Performing Arts Center and Aquatic Center facilities that were opened in 2003 provide students with additional opportunities.
Adult and Alternative Education programs offered include GED testing, high school completion and credit recovery. The Lifelong Learning program offers classes, trips, and social events for area senior citizens. From the very youngest student in the community to the oldest, Allegan Public Schools is firmly committed to educational excellence; and in the process, improving the quality of life in the Allegan Area.
