Dr.Ishak Ahmed has served as the President of North East India Baptist Bible College and Seminary in the city of Silchar, Assam, since 1989. A scientist and academic, doing post-doctorate work in Finland and India, Dr. Ahmed left his position to give full-time effort to developing ministries in this more remote region of India. Having come from a simple Muslim village, his heart and mission has been to reach, teach, and train the young people and adults in the under-resourced areas. The Bible College acts as the hub of ministry, which includes a school, children’s hostel and orphanage, university student ministry, leadership development, and now a children’s camp.
Since 2010, Camp Beechpoint has been partnering with Dr. Ahmed to provide a Christian Camp experience to 150 children each year. The campers at Beechpoint, give from their “snack” money and contribute enough each summer to sponsor the one week session at “Camp India”. The Beechpoint staff provide a small team that trains the national workers in camp ministry during the week prior to the children’s event. Children from Hindu, Muslim, Adibasi, and Christian backgrounds in the towns around UjanTarapur, Cachar, pay just over one dollar each to attend.
Dr. Ahmed will be speaking about the overflowing opportunity to have an impact in young lives – in Michigan and around the world. All are invited to attend on Saturday, November 7, at 6:30 PM (RSVP to Beechpoint’s office 269-673-6155).
