DESCRIPTION:With the shared mission of providing reliable and timely information\, as well as representing the well-being of our community and local economy\, the Allegan District Library\, in partnership with the Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce and the Allegan County News\, will host a formal question-and-answer forum in advance of the November 5th election of City Council members. \nThis is your opportunity to meet the candidates\, learn about their positions on relevant issues\, and to measure their demeanor and competence when addressing those issues in public.  The forum will include introductions and opening position statements followed by the delivery of prepared and audience questions.  Each candidate will be permitted to answer or decline each of the questions.  The event will follow a forum protocol and is not a debate.  The forum will be streamed to Facebook Live.  Like the City Council roles\, the forum will be strictly independent of sectarian affiliation\, will be non-partisan\, and non-denominational in its approach to the question and answers. \nTo submit a question for consideration in advance of the forum\, email it to Library Director Ryan Deery at rdeery@alleganlibrary.org. DESCRIPTION:Wings of Hope Hospice is sponsoring a Death Café.  This event is a part of a growing worldwide phenomenon where people\, often strangers\, gather to talk about death and eat good food. \nDeath Café is scheduled for Tuesday\, October 22\, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Wings of Hope Hospice office conference room located at 530 Linn St. in Allegan\, across from Ascension – Allegan Hospital. \nThe objective of Death Café is to ‘increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’.  Death Café was founded by Jon Underwood in England in 2011 based on the work of Bernard Crettaz\, a Swiss sociologist.  Lizzy Miles was the first person to offer Death Café in the U.S. \nIndividuals may participate according to their level of comfort.  The conversation will be thoughtful\, respectful and confidential.  The event is free and complimentary hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served.  To attend\, please RSVP by calling the Wings of Hope Hospice office by October 15th at 800-796-2676 or 269-686-8659.   Seating is limited.

DESCRIPTION:General admission free and food is available! \nDon’t miss one of Camp Kidwell’s featured events!  See beautifully decorated trees and wreaths\, visit w/ Santa\, make cookies w/ Mrs. Claus\, have a meal with family and friends and help us raise funds to support our camp programs.  This event features 100+ beautifully decorated trees\, wreaths\, and other holiday items that are available for purchase through our live and online auctions.  You can see these items in person and can buy them for your home or business by attending our Dinner at the Lodge and Live Auction or by participating in our online auction. \nThank you to Badger Evergreen for helping make this amazing fundraiser possible! \nSenior Citizen’s Day – Thursday\, December 5th – noon – 6 pm\nWe would love to see all our amazing Senior Citizens in our community.  Church and Senior Center Groups are welcome!  Lunch and dinner will be available\, and you can be the first to see the beautiful “Winter Wonderland!” \nSoup/Sandwich Supper – Friday\, December 6th – noon – 9 pm\nWe open at noon for you to come and browse!  Lunch will be available\, and at 6 pm we will begin serving our soup and sandwich supper.  Dinner and drinks are available at a reasonable cost.  For your listening pleasure\, we will feature live music starting at 6:30! \nCookies w/ Mrs. Claus – Saturday\, December 7th – 10 am – 3 pm\nDon’t miss your chance to share your Christmas list and get your picture taken with Santa Claus.  Decorate cookies with Mrs. Claus.  Make some crafts.  Enjoy yummy food.  See all the beautiful decorations and items. \nDinner at the Lodge – Saturday\, December 7th – Social 6 pm\, Dinner 6:30 pm \nTickets – $50 each limited to 100 sold tickets.  Adult only event (alcohol will be served). SUMMARY:Ugly Sweater 5K to Benefit APS Tigers in Motion
DESCRIPTION:It is time to don that hideous ugly sweater lying around and come out to support a great cause!  It is time for the Allegan Ugly Sweater 5K!!  This event will start and finish at the beautiful downtown Allegan Riverfront.  All proceeds from the event will be benefiting the Allegan Tigers in Motion program.  Post-Race celebration to take place following the race with drinks and soup/chili. \nAwards for different levels of runners\, as well as\, awards for the “Ugliest” sweater! On-course entertainment to be present during race activities to ‘warm’ the participants and spectators.  This is going to be a must-do family-friendly event \nClick for more information & registration.
