We are now part of the nation’s largest Catholic nonprofit healthcare system and we also gained a new name – Ascension Borgess Allegan Hospital. We celebrated a new year full of new beginnings and promising futures for our patients\, providers and staff only to be halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. \n\nWe are all navigating uncharted waters with new safety guidelines that flow into our personal and professional lives. While many things have changed and will continue to change\, we do have some exciting news to share with you – our 29th Annual Charity Golf Classic will be held as originally planned on Thursday\, August 6 at Cheshire Hills Golf Course! \n\nKeeping our players\, volunteers and Cheshire Hills staff members safe during our Charity Golf Classic is our top priority. With ongoing concerns regarding COVID-19\, we recognize that this situation is still fluid and we will strictly adhere to all directives of the Governor’s Office\, as well as rely on the guidance of Ascension Michigan and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. You will notice some changes with this year’s outing\, however\, we will do our very best to make our outing as safe as possible while we continue to raise vital funds for the Ascension Borgess Allegan Foundation (formerly Allegan General Hospital Foundation). All proceeds from past outings have directly impacted education\, patient and family support services\, and clinical advancements for our local community hospital\, Ascension Borgess Allegan. Thank you for being a partner with us along the way! \n\nSo please mark your calendars for Thursday\, August 6 at 8:30 a.m. and join us at Cheshire Hills Golf Course! If you have previously sponsored our Charity Golf Classic and are able to do so this year\, your continued financial support would mean the world to us. He was passionate at about helping others.  To honor his legacy\, this scholarship was established in his name to annually award a scholarship to an Allegan High School senior that exhibits the strength of character Joe embodied.  This scholarship has already awarded over $7\,500 to students that are generous\, outgoing\, community-minded\, forward-thinking\, have a sense of humor that engages people\, and welcoming to everyone. \nWithout the ability to embrace the downtown Allegan community this year\, we have moved our fundraising efforts online! DESCRIPTION:Think you can outrun the police? Here’s your chance to try! \nLaw enforcement has teamed up with Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center to host their third annual Badges and Bravery 5k. Typically during this Jailbreak race\, civilian racers have a head start and will have the opportunity to run from police after escaping jail. Law enforcement and other first responders need to catch up and “catch” the escapees. \nThis year our Virtual 5K will allow civilian runners to run a 5K anytime between October 1 and the 17th. Runners can then submit their times to see if they beat an assigned law enforcement officer. Local runners (Allegan and Barry Counties) can even submit their times and GPS routes and an officer may be able to run the same course for more accurate results. \nSign up now for Safe Harbor’s Jailbreak 5k to run from the cops!
