DESCRIPTION:Ric and Stan’s will offer FREE CAR WASHES to all veterans and active-duty personnel at three of our locations on Veterans Day.  This is the 20th CONSECUTIVE YEAR we have participated in the Grace for Veterans program. \nFree car washes will be offered at our Kalamazoo and Otsego locations as well as at our Marshall Street location in Allegan from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 11.  Please help us spread the word to veterans and active duty friends so we can give away as many free washes as possible!

DESCRIPTION:In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month\, join us October 27 at 10 a.m. for a free viewing of the excellent documentary Private Violence. \n“Private Violence is a documentary film and audience engagement campaign that explores a simple\, but deeply disturbing fact of American life: the most dangerous place for a woman in America is her own home. Every day in the US\, at least four women are murdered by abusive (and often\, ex) partners. The knee-jerk response is to ask: “why doesn’t she just leave?” Private Violence shatters the brutality of this logic. Through the eyes of two survivors – Deanna Walters\, a mother who seeks justice for the crimes committed against her at the hands of her estranged husband\, and Kit Gruelle\, an advocate who seeks justice for all women – we bear witness to the complicated and complex realities of intimate partner violence. Their experiences challenge entrenched and misleading assumptions\, providing a lens into a world that is largely invisible; a world we have locked behind closed doors with our silence\, our laws\, and our lack of understanding. Kit’s work immerses us in the lives of several other women as they attempt to leave their abusers\, setting them on a collision course with institutions that continuously and systematically fail them\, often blaming victims for the violence they hope to flee. The same society that encourages women to seek true love shows them no mercy when that love turns dangerous. DESCRIPTION:This year’s Hearts and Hands Celebration will take place on Thursday\, October 24th at the Laketown Golf and Conference Center in Saugatuck.  The event begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 9:00 pm. Heavy Hors-d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.  Business casual attire is encouraged. \nThe evening will feature community partner recognition\, a silent auction and the opportunity to support Community Action’s work.  Attendees and supporters of the organization have the opportunity to assist families striving to achieve a better life.  The organization anticipates 200 attendees\, including business and community leaders\, elected officials\, program partners\, and supporters. Sponsorship opportunities are available ranging from the $250 level to $1\,000 level.
