DESCRIPTION:Please join the Allegan County Community Foundation on Tuesday\, September 21 at 10:00 AM to celebrate their relocation to 112 Locust Street in Downtown Allegan with an Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. \nACCF purchased the building – the former Allegan City Hall – in 2019 and made the move as the days grew colder and Fall transitioned to Winter.  The decision was made to allow time to get settled and to host the ribbon-cutting in the Spring of 2020 – think blue skies\, a temperature approaching 70-degrees\, and the return of robins.  Alas\, the April 21 date became an early COVID-19 cancellation on the Chamber Calendar so we are excited for the opportunity to congratulate the Foundation at this time. \nSince 1965\, the Allegan County Community Foundation has helped area residents maximize the effectiveness of their charitable giving. The ACCF is a public charity serving thousands of donors and non-profit agencies who share a common goal; improving the quality of life in Allegan County.

DESCRIPTION:The Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is honored to announce the 2021 Spirit of Allegan Award Recipients.  The Chamber has recognized businesses\, organizations\, and individuals who have made impactful contributions to life in the Allegan community annually since 1982. \nThe 2021 slate of award winners includes Gun Lake Casino (Business of The Year\, sponsored by Perrigo)\, Steve & Jana Tibbitts (Lifetime Achievement\, sponsored by The Grill House)\, Wings Home (Community service Organization)\, and the Allegan County Health Department (President’s Award\, sponsored by Tibbitts Financial Consulting).  Award presentations will occur at the Spirit of Allegan Awards Luncheon on Thursday\, September 23\, 12:00 PM at The Silo Banquets & Catering. \nThe 2020 Spirit of Allegan Award winners will also be celebrated at this year’s luncheon as the event was canceled last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.  Those award recipients include The Grocery Outlet Store (Business of The Year\, sponsored by Perrigo)\, Linda Blankenship (Lifetime Achievement\, sponsored by Tibbitts Financial Consulting)\, Hungry for Christ (Community Service Organization)\, and Larry Wood\, Allegan Antiques Market (President’s Award). \nThe Chamber hopes that you will join us on Thursday\, September 23 for the Spirit of Allegan Awards Luncheon at The Silo Banquets & Catering.  Doors open at 11:30 AM with buffet service beginning at 11:45 AM.  The award presentations will begin at 12:20 PM. SUMMARY:Joe Kavanagh Scholarship Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Four years ago\, Joe died suddenly at age 43. He was passionate about his community and helping others.  To honor his legacy\, this scholarship was established in his name to annually award a scholarship to an Allegan High School senior that exhibits the strength of character Joe embodied. This scholarship has already awarded over $10\,000 to students that are generous\, outgoing\, community-minded\, forward-thinking\, have a sense of humor that engages people\, and welcoming to everyone. \nThis will be the second year we have moved our fundraising efforts online! This is the only fundraiser Team Kavanagh will run this year and everyone coming together to honor Joe and raise money to advance young people to help achieve their dreams is exactly what Joe would do. We sincerely thank you for being a part of this event and hope you take a moment to remember Joe and live by his example…well\, at least some of his examples! \nAnnual Golf Outing:  For those able to participate in the 4th Annual Golf Outing\, it will be held again at Cheshire Hills Golf Course and will be a full 18 holes this year!  Click HERE to register your team. \nLIVE Music Downtown Allegan: Unlike last year\, we are excited to again have a downtown event Saturday night (October 2nd)!  The band\, The Cheap Dates\, will be on the riverfront from 8pm -11pm.  Along with this\, you will be able to enjoy some beverages outdoors thanks to the City of Allegan’s “social district”.  You can purchase a wristband/drink tickets for $20 and meander to your favorite spots for a drink. DESCRIPTION:Every October\, we’ve enjoyed bringing our community together to talk about the hope and confidence that Sylvia’s Place instills in our clients. So many in our communities donated time\, money\, a beautiful venue\, and countless auction items to help us raise funds to grow and reach more victims. COVID-19 did not allow that to happen in 2020\, and again we are unable to gather safely for Fall Fest in 2021 and celebrate our 25th Anniversary of serving survivors…we could not be more disappointed! \nWe will\, however\, go on with our ‘Fall Fest From Home’ for a second\, and hopefully final\, year. \nParticipants are encouraged to support victims of abuse along with local restaurants by providing a donation to Sylvia’s Place\, ordering in for dinner\, and sharing their experience on social media with #FallFestFromHome!  We were overwhelmed with the response from the community last year\, and despite the continued struggles for many\, hope to repeat the show of support in 2021. \nClick HERE for more information\, sponsorship opportunities\, or to make a donation.
