Allegan Public Schools is dedicated to academic excellence and strives to ensure high levels of learning for all students.
Our district has humble beginnings as a one-room schoolhouse in 1845, but today it offers a broad educational program. Our PreK-12 curriculum is extensive and is designed to prepare our students for college and careers. Our elementary and middle school programs offer a comprehensive K-8 curriculum, and students in grades 9-12 have access to a rigorous and challenging curriculum, including Advanced Placement courses, as well as access to an Early College program where students can earn an Associate’s Degree. Students use technology daily to develop their skills as communicators, collaborators, and critical thinkers.
In collaboration with Allegan AESA, Allegan Public Schools offers a full range of program options for students with special needs, as well as hands-on vocational educational opportunities for high school students through the Allegan County Tech Education Center.
A wide variety of extracurricular activities are available to all students in the district, allowing them to participate in team and individual sports, foreign language clubs, robotics, and the fine arts.
Our exceptional Performing Arts Center and Aquatic Center provide additional enriching opportunities and programs for our students and the community. Allegan Online meets each learner’s individual needs, and our Adult Education program provides opportunities for GED testing, high school completion, and credit recovery. The Lifelong Learning program also offers classes, trips, and social events for area senior citizens.
From the very youngest student in the community to the oldest, Allegan Public Schools is firmly committed to educational excellence, and in the process, improving the quality of life in Allegan County.
