Allegan General Hospital (AGH) leads the way with cutting edge technology and prides itself on in providing exceptional, compassionate and personalized healthcare to the community. The hospital is committed to providing the community with an array of services close to home, so area residents don’t have to travel far to receive excellent medical care.
The hospital recently received Michigan Rural Health Quality Improvement Award and has been named two years in a row by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the nation’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare.
AGH offers a wide variety of health care services including physical rehabilitation, lab, radiology, inpatient care, sleep center, home health, joint academy, bariatric, and surgery. The physicians that staff the hospital’s ER are the same highly skilled doctors who work in the ER’s at other area hospitals, including Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Unique to a community hospital is Allegan General’s Wound Healing Center, which specializes in the treatment of chronic wounds and non-responsive conditions. One of the highly specialized treatments offered at the center is hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
The hospital’s diabetes education program is state certified and nationally recognized by the American Diabetes Association. AGH’s Psychological Medicine office offers a wide range of outpatient mental health services including psychiatric evaluations and on-going therapy services for adults, adolescents and children ages seven and above. The Psychological Medicine office is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
AGH’s radiology department recently installed a state-of-the-art digital mammography system, as well as added 3D/4D ultrasound capabilities to its OB ultrasound services.
AGH is a member of the Spirit of Women hospital network and has been named a Spirit of Women Premiere Hospital. To receive this premiere status, AGH had to meet or exceed 80% of the National Standards of Excellence in Women’s Health.
As well as treating individuals who are sick, AGH is committed to preventative health care and giving individuals the tools to lead a healthier life. To that end, the hospital offers many programs throughout the year on a variety of topics to help educate the public on important health care issues.
