Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce finds new home in City’s Welcome Center

On Wednesday, June 1 the City of Allegan officially opened its Welcome Center, which also serves as the new home of the Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce.  The Welcome Center, located at 134 Brady St. across from Mahan Park, has long been on the City’s strategic plan, and makes available a central location for residents and visitors to get brochures and literature regarding Allegan and the surrounding area; as well as fulfilling the need for public restrooms near the Riverfront Plaza.

The opportunity to relocate the Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce office to the Welcome center was, “too good to pass up,” said Executive Director, Tim Perrigo.  “Being located in the Welcome Center strengthens the Chamber’s partnership with the City of Allegan and moves forward the Chamber’s mission of “providing services to its members while functioning as a catalyst for promotion, growth, and community development,” said Perrigo.  In the very first month on operating out of the new location, walk in traffic at the Chamber is up significantly, and many conversations have occurred with out-of-town visitors helping them to discover Allegan’s many gems.
